FAQs

  • Pelvic floor physical therapy focuses on assessing and treating the muscles that stabilize the hips and control bladder, bowel, and sexual function. It plays a key role in addressing concerns like pain, incontinence, prolapse, and postpartum healing.

  • At your first visit, we will have a thorough conversation so Dr. Jess can understand your symptoms, goals, and concerns. Muscle strength and joint range of motion will be assessed, and an internal muscle examination may be offered to better evaluate pelvic floor function; this is always optional and based entirely on your comfort level. We will review exercises together and provide a written summary by email to support your progress at home.

  • Many patients begin to notice improvements within 1-3 sessions as they start their personalized treatment plan. Dr. Jess will regularly assess your progress and adjust the approach as needed to help you achieve your goals. Consistency with exercises and follow-up visits plays a significant role in ensuring lasting improvements.

  • First Visit: You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your symptoms and where you are in the healing process. You’ll also learn how to use movement, exercise, and breathing techniques to start feeling better right away.

Follow-up Visits: As we progress, your home exercises will be adjusted and personalized based on your response. After the first 1-3 visits, you'll have a clearer understanding of your recovery journey and the steps needed to continue improving, making the process feel manageable and less overwhelming.
